We thank you for supporting VCC students with your kind donation. Every donation to the VCC Foundation, large or small, is an investment not only in our students but in families, neighbourhoods, communities and workplaces. Your choice to support post-secondary education helps ensure a better future for British Columbia and Canada. A gift to the Foundation shows our students that the community believes in them, and supports their efforts to gain the knowledge and skills they need to find their place in the workforce.

Recognizing your gift
Your generosity is appreciated by the VCC Foundation. To recognize you for making VCC students a priority, your name will appear on the donor wall at both VCC campuses, and in the case of a scholarship or award you will be invited to the award ceremony to make the presentation to the student recipient in person.
What you can support
Classroom/Loading Bay naming opportunities at Annacis Island Campus
Become a partner in the BCIT/VCC Motive Power Center of Excellence at Annacis Island. Your support will help enable VCC to invest in new equipment, technology and programming in a wide range of trades, and to provide training that will greatly contribute to the economic and social prosperity of British Columbia. Contact Nancy Nesbitt for more information on naming opportunity terms and benefits.
Scholarships, awards, and bursaries
Whether you want to support students in financial need or reward academic achievement, you can assist students in reaching their educational goals.
A scholarship is an award given in recognition of academic excellence or achievement. Scholarships of $500 or greater are presented at annual award ceremonies held in May and November.
An award is based on a broader range of criteria that may or may not include academic excellence, such as community involvement, leadership skills, demonstration of tremendous effort, financial need etc. The criteria are determined by the donor to reflect their values and priorities. These gifts of $500 or greater are also presented our annual awards ceremonies.
A bursary is an award distributed based on financial need. Consequently, they are awarded privately and confidentially throughout the year.
There are various ways to support VCC student achievement:
- Create your own fund
- Fund an award on an annual basis
A three-year commitment to fund a minimum amount of $500 annually.
- Establish an endowment fund in perpetuity
A donation of a lump sum, a minimum of $20,000, which would be invested so that the interest each year would form the scholarship or bursary. Our fund managers pay out approximately 4% annually.
- Establish an endowed award In Memory or In Honour of someone close to you
Much like establishing an endowment fund, a Memoriam Endowment provides a lasting tribute to
loved one.
Other Giving Options
- Catalogue of Gifts
Support VCC students by donating towards classroom equipment funds. Visit the Catalogue of Gifts page to see which departments are featured and make a donation to purchase an item needed to support student training and success.
- Gifts-In-Kind
Are you able to donate equipment and/or other items that VCC could use? If so, you could make a gift-in-kind donation. VCC will gladly accept any gifts-in-kind for which there is a use within the college. A donation receipt may be issued for the fair market value of the gift, based on an independent third party evaluation of the gift.
- Gifts of Securities
Tax savings are substantially greater when donating publicly traded securities directly to VCC rather than donating the cash proceeds from the sale of these same securities. In the May 2, 2006 federal budget, the government announced the elimination of the capital gains tax on such donations. Please contact us for more information on how to donate a gift of shares.
- Future Gifts
Provide a bequest in your will to ensure a legacy for future students.
